چکیده

Fossil lobsters from the Netherlands have been described only rarely. This article describes the oldest, marine lobsters from the Netherlands in Middle Triassic Anisian (Muschelkalk) sediments cropping out in the Winterswijk quarry complex. The lobsters include the erymids Clytiopsis argentoratensis and Oosterinkia neerlandica n. gen., n. sp., and the mecochirid Pseudoglyphea cf. P. spinosa. They lived in a low energy, stressed environment with fluctuating salinity levels. This fluctuation might have caused the limited size of the specimens of Clytiopsis argentoratensis compared to related stratigraphically younger and older lobsters. In addition, the low number of specimens collected over decades and the low number of crustacean species is likely to be caused by a combination of the environment itself and a limited preservation potential. Paleoenvironment, Biostratigraphy and Sequence stratigraphic studies of the Permian-Triassic boundrary of the offshore Persian Gulf, Iran: using an integrated approach.

Four supergiant and numerous giant gasfields have been discovered in the Southwest Iran which produce from Permian-Triassic carbonates belong to the upper member of Dalan Formation and Kangan Formation. In this research a detailed biostratigraphic, microfacies and sequence stratigraphic study of the late Middle Permian to Triassic successions was undertaken from 850 thin sections prepared from ...

Paleoecology of Early to Middle Miocene Deposits (Guri Member) and Sedimentary Environment, SE Zagros Zone, Roydar, Iran

This research focusses on the facies distribution, paleoenvironment and paleoecology of the foraminifera of the Guri Member in the northern Bandar Abbas Hinterland located in the Roydar area of southern Iran. The Guri Member is 570 meters thick and composed of limestone, argillaceous limestone and marl. The distribution of the foraminifera in the study area indicates the existence of three bioz...

Footprints pull origin and diversification of dinosaur stem lineage deep into Early Triassic.

The ascent of dinosaurs in the Triassic is an exemplary evolutionary radiation, but the earliest phase of dinosaur history remains poorly understood. Body fossils of close dinosaur relatives are rare, but indicate that the dinosaur stem lineage (Dinosauromorpha) originated by the latest Anisian (ca 242-244 Ma). Here, we report footprints from the Early-Middle Triassic of Poland, stratigraphical...

The Marine Pachypleurosaur Serpianosaurus Germanicus Nov. Spec. – Skeleton and Isolated Bone Remains from the Pelsonian (middle Triassic) of the European Germanic Basin Carbonate Intertidals and Its Paleobiology and Taphonomy

The large marine pachypleurosaur sauropterygian Serpianosaurus germanicus nov. spec., representing the oldest well known record of this genus from the Pelsonian, is introduced based on a postcranial skeleton. Of younger age are the Serpianosaurus mirigolensis (Rieppel, 1989) specimens from the Illyrian/Fassanian boundary (Grenzbitumen Bed) of the northwestern Tethys (Monte San Giorgio). Additio...

Angiosperm-like pollen and Afropollis from the Middle Triassic (Anisian) of the Germanic Basin (Northern Switzerland)

Here we report on angiosperm-like pollen and Afropollis from the Anisian (Middle Triassic, 247.2-242.0 Ma) of a mid-latitudinal site in Northern Switzerland. Small monosulcate pollen grains with typical reticulate (semitectate) sculpture, columellate structure of the sexine and thin nexine show close similarities to early angiosperm pollen known from the Early Cretaceous. However, they differ i...
